[mysql 12902] mysqlbinlogの動作について

いつもお世話になってます。

Ver5.0.18 の MYSQL 上で mysqlbinlog を動かすと、以下のように
unknown variable が出てしまい、正常終了しません。
対処法をご存じの方がおられましたら、是非教えてください。

# mysqlbinlog mysql-bin.000059 > mysql-bin.000059.txt
mysqlbinlog: unknown variable 'default-character-set=ujis'


※ mysql-bin.000059 は実在のファイル名です。


試しに以下を実行してみても同様です。

# mysqlbinlog --help
mysqlbinlog: unknown variable 'default-character-set=ujis'

[環境]
1.MySQL:Ver5.0.18。OS:CentOS4.1 x86。

2.漢字コードはujisとしています。

3.my.cnf は長いので文末に示します。

4.文字の取扱に関する変数定義は以下のようになっています。

  mysql> show variables like 'cha%';

5.set文で定義すればいいのかと考え、以下のようにしてみましたが
  エラーとなります。

  mysql> set default-character-set=ujis;
